7 Benefits of Lavender

Lavender has been around since the beginning of time. Tracing back more than 2,000 years, this special herb has been used for many things including: deodorant, perfume, natural remedies, and even lion and tiger taming. Lavender can come in many forms, most popularly used as an essential oil.

There are countless benefits when using Lavender, this is just a quick list to get you started…….

#1. Aids in stress relief

Lavender oil or even water infused with lavender can help to calm nerves, cure anxiety, and promote relaxation.  Apply on forehead, back of jaw, and temples to relieve stress or use as a preventative before entering a stressful environment or situation.

#2. Soothe sunburn

First run cool water on the skin around the burns for a few minutes.  Then, for immediate relief, gently apply some lavender oil to the sunburned areas.

#3. Helps sleep

Spray on pillows or add lavender oil to a diffuser to aid with insomnia. Add dry lavender to your night time tea to for a nice sleep brew. 

#4. Insect repellent

Many flying insects hate the smell of lavender. Add lavender around doors and windows to prevent bugs from entering your house. You can also add lavender oil on a mattress to keep insects out of the bedroom.

#5. Improves digestion

Add a drop of therapeutic-grade lavender tincture (make sure it is safe for ingestion) on the back of the tongue to help soothe the stomach and improve digestion. You can also drink some lavender tea after a meal to reduce acid-reflux and relieve indigestion.

#6. Helps with acne

Lavender oil is an effect treatment for acne due to its ant-bacterial properties.  Add some lavender oil to an all-natural cleanser or moisturizer to help clear up acne and reduce scarring.

#7. Reverse hair loss

Massage scalp daily with lavender oil to help with hair regrowth. Look for natural shampoo’s and conditioners with lavender or lavender oil.
